Polynomfunktion bzw. ganzrationale Funktion

Eine Polynomfunktion bzw. ganzrationale Funktion ist eine Funktion die in der Form \[f(x)=a_0 + a_1\cdot x + a_2\cdot x^2 + a_3\cdot x^3 + ... + a_{n-1}\cdot x^{n-1} + a_n\cdot x^n\] geschrieben werden kann. Dabei ist \(n\) eine natürliche Zahl während \(a_0, a_1, a_2, \ldots, a_n\) reelle Zahlen sind und Koeffizienten genannt werden. Ist \(a_n\neq 0\), dann ist \(n\) der Grad der Polynomfunktion. Der Grad ist also die höchste Potenz der Polynomfunktion.
Der Grad der Polynomfunktion \(f(x)=1+x+3x^{\color{blue}{2}}\) lautet \(\color{blue}{2}\).
Der Grad der Polynomfunktion \(f(x)=5x^{\color{blue}{14}}-7x^9\) lautet \(\color{blue}{14}\).
Eine kompakte Darstellung einer Polynomfunktion ist mittels des Summenzeichens \(\sum\) möglich. \[f(x)=\sum _{k=0}^{n}a_k\cdot x^k\]

Spezialfälle der Polynomfunktion

  • Eine Polynomfunktion nullten Grades ist eine konstante Funktion \(f(x)=a_0\) mit \(a_0\neq 0\).
  • Eine Polynomfunktion ersten Grades ist eine lineare Funktion \(f(x)=a_0 + a_1\cdot x\) mit \(a_1\neq 0\).
  • Eine Polynomfunktion zweiten Grades ist eine quadratische Funktion \(f(x)=a_0 + a_1\cdot x + a_2\cdot x^2\) mit \(a_2\neq 0\).
  • Eine Polynomfunktion dritten Grades hat die Form \(f(x)=a_0 + a_1\cdot x + a_2\cdot x^2 + a_3\cdot x^3\) mit \(a_3\neq 0\).
  • Eine Polynomfunktion vierten Grades hat die Form \(f(x)=a_0 + a_1\cdot x + a_2\cdot x^2 + a_3\cdot x^3 + a_4\cdot x^4\) mit \(a_4\neq 0\).
